The league was launched in May of 2012. Garena introduced their Garena Premier League (GPL), a six-month-long online professional gaming league with over 100 games that will be held. The inaugural season of GPL features six teams made up of professional League of Legends players. These teams feature the very best players in their respective nations. GPL games and commentary are broadcasted online. The public can view games through the GPL website. The GPL announced in January 2013 Garena revealed it was launching the Garena Premier League's second season was scheduled to begin in January on 4th January. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two new teams from Taiwan and Vietnam which brings the total number of teams to 8. These teams include AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. Garena's Sports stadium, which is a venue exclusively dedicated to esports at the Neihu District Taipei, opened its doors on the 14th of November on the 14th of November, 2014. The first studio was opened in the month of November 2014 to coincide with the start of the League of Legends Masters Series. The league is the world's premier LoL Taiwanese as well as Hong Kongese and Macau LoL League which spun off from the GPL. Garena began her Iron Solari League in January 2015. The Iron Solari League is the League of Legends women's tournament held at the Philippines. This is a bimonthly affair which is held in the second quarter of each month. It is designed to encourage participation in those who are underrepresented, and is open to anyone who self-identifies as a female. Garena does not just organize tournaments but also offline gatherings and events that allow users to meet. For instance, Garena's annual Garena Carnival held in Singapore and Malaysia.
